Charlo has a Volunteer Fire Department that averages 25 active members (of which 8 are EMS certified). The members are all volunteers from within the Charlo area, who are very dedicated to serving the community in which they live as Firefighters and First Responder/EMT's.
Charlo/Moiese Volunteer Fire Department covers all Fire, Medical, HAZMAT and Heavy Rescue calls for the Charlo and Moiese area, as well as mutual aid to other surrounding towns as needed. The CMVFD responds to approximately 100 calls per year.
The CMVFD has a First Response license with the State of Montana which allows its medically-certified members to respond to medical emergencies and car accidents to treat patients while waiting for the responding ambulance.
